In the Dark Manchester is proud to present an evening of listening curated by Jo Meek – a brilliant radio producer with an inspiring career.
Jo Meek has been pressing the record button and telling stories through the wireless since she was 19. Back then the record button was on quarter inch at a little studio in a tiny castle at the University of Stirling. Some 17 years later radio storytelling has taken her to Australia, Vietnam (via San Francisco), the Ivory Coast and the Cook Islands and now Manchester and Salford.
Jo has produced and executive-produced programmes for all the BBC’s terrestrial UK radio networks, in addition to the BBC World Service, ABC national radio in Sydney and many commercial networks. Jo has won several awards including a Sony, a One World award and 2 New York Radio Festival awards.
She’ll be playing a selection of audio that has inspired her and favourites from her own back-catalogue.
There will an opportunity to ask Jo questions – so come down and bring your burning questions about getting into radio (or Australian radio!) along.
