The Rom-Com Game is a story-generation exercise where one writer tries to bring two characters together and the opposing writer tries to break them apart.

At this special live event, Imaginary Advice will be previewing a brand new story: a collaboration between Ross Sutherland and novelist Joe Dunthorne (The Adulterants, Submarine). Control of the story will pass back and forth between Ross and Joe, with both sides trying to manipulate the plot towards their end.

Imaginary Advice is an anthology of audio-fiction experiments by playwright Ross Sutherland. It won Best Fiction at the British Podcast Awards and was part of Vulture’s “Ten Essential Fiction Podcasts that Shaped the Genre”: “Sutherland’s laboratory […] full of strange excursions and sublime turns of phrase”. According to AV Club, “Few people are as skilled at turning moments of regret into transcendent, artistic works […] One of podcasting’s brightest lights”.
