As the air gets colder and the days get shorter, we could all use a little laughter.
January 20th is “Blue Monday”, supposedly the saddest day of the entire year. In preparation, Talia Augustidis has spent the past 12 months curating a collection of “funny sounds” – a joyful mix of audio documentaries, sketches and sound art that will chase the blues away.
She’s combed through the archives to find hidden gems, like BBC sketches from the 1990s, NPR packages from the 2000s, and never-before-heard works. You can expect many mishaps, including phone calls gone wrong, accidental emails, and fairy-tale romances gone awry.
Talia is a multi-award-winning audio producer and community organiser based in London. Her podcast UnReality has been featured in festivals all over the world, from New York to Florence to Reykjavik. She is the lead curator for In The Dark London and writes the All Hear newsletter.
